How It Works:
Attachment: The gathering foot replaces your machine's standard presser foot and shank assembly. It attaches directly to the presser bar with a screw.
Gathering Mechanism: The bottom of the foot has a flat area and a step-down groove. As the feed dogs move the fabric, the foot's design causes the fabric underneath to bunch up and "lock in fullness" with each stitch, creating automatic gathers.
For Single Layer Gathering:
- Place the fabric to be gathered underneath the foot
- Adjust stitch length and tension for desired fullness
- Sew at a moderate speed - gathers form automatically
For Gathering and Joining Two Layers:
- Place the fabric to be gathered underneath the foot
- Insert the fabric that is to remain flat into the slot on the left side of the foot
- Sew at a moderate speed - the bottom layer feeds faster, gathering as it attaches to the flat top layer
Adjusting Fullness:
Control the amount of gathering with your machine settings:
