How the Adjustable Guide Works:

For blind hems, you fold and position the fabric so the edge runs right along this blade. As the machine creates the blind hem stitch (a few straight stitches followed by a single zigzag swing), you use the adjustment screw to move the blade closer to or further from the needle's path. The goal is to set the guide so the needle just barely catches the innermost folded edge of the fabric with its zigzag swing, catching only one or two threads. This makes the stitch almost invisible from the front of the garment. For edge stitching, the blade acts as a fence—by running the fabric edge against the blade and adjusting your needle position, you can achieve perfectly straight, consistently spaced topstitching.
Using the Foot for Blind Hems:
